The discussion, led by Jonas Moberg and Nishaanth Balashanmugam from GH2, focused on market dynamics, pricing strategies, policy adjustments, and infrastructure requirements to accelerate sector growth.

Ammonia Market Opportunities:

The role of ammonia in shipping, fertilisers, and steel sectors was emphasised, with the Ministry committed to supporting fair export markets for Indian producers.

Developing the Domestic Green Ammonia Market:

MNRE will lead conversations with the Ministry of Fertilisers and Ministry of Finance to facilitate green ammonia adoption domestically.

Price Stability and Subsidies:

The importance of forecasting green ammonia prices was highlighted to enable better fiscal policies, while improving payment cycles for fertiliser subsidies was recommended to ease financial stress on stakeholders.

Policy Flexibility and Infrastructure Bottlenecks:

The team identified EU regulations as barriers for Indian producers and called for more aligned policies.

The group raised concerns over land acquisition issues and licensing bottlenecks, proposing strategies to counter speculative practices that hinder project development.
