The India Green Hydrogen Showcase, part of EU Hydrogen Week 2024, served as a key platform to highlight India's emerging leadership in the global green hydrogen economy. The event, organised by GH2 India, brought together a diverse group of policymakers, industry leaders, international experts, and stakeholders from the green hydrogen sector to discuss India's growing production capabilities, policy landscape, and opportunities for international partnerships.


The sessions underscored India’s potential to be a global leader in green hydrogen, supported by its vast renewable energy resources, competitive cost structure, and proactive government policies.


Key Sessions and Highlights:


1. Supply of Green Molecules from India (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM):

This session focused on India's capacity to meet global demand for green ammonia and hydrogen. The discussion highlighted affordable renewable energy, land availability, and a robust power grid.

Keynote speaker: Dr. Prasad Chaphekar, IRS, Deputy Secretary, MNRE, emphasised India's readiness to meet global energy needs.

The session attracted a significant audience, including European companies and representatives from the Ammonia Europe and the Ammonia Association.

The companies presented their ongoing projects and highlighted the government's support for clean energy initiatives.

3. Global Perspectives on India’s Green Hydrogen Economy (12:30 PM – 1:30 PM):

This session featured insights from international experts, covering topics such as financing mechanisms, international certification standards, and developing port infrastructure for hydrogen trade.


Keynote address: Shri Mahaveer Singhvi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted India's strategic role in the global hydrogen economy. He underscored the nation's efforts to accelerate green hydrogen adoption through the National Green Hydrogen Mission, fostering equitable production, and forging strategic partnerships with global stakeholders and markets.


Speakers included: Dolf Gielen (World Bank), Mikaa Blugeon-Mered (CertifHy), and Mark Stoelinga (Port of Rotterdam), with Rolf Behrdnt (GH2 India) moderating the discussion. The session focused on collaboration opportunities in financing, ports, and projects.
