We recently had the privilege of hosting an interactive session with Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director of the H2Global Foundation, and Mr. Timo Bollerhey, Executive Director of HINT.CO GmbH. During this engaging event, they shared their efforts to advance the trade of green hydrogen and its derivatives within the European Union, while also exploring how India can play a pivotal role in supporting these endeavours.

As the world grapples with the intensifying climate crisis, the rapid scaling of green hydrogen technology has become crucial for reducing carbon emissions, particularly in hard-to-abate industries. Governments, institutions, and industries worldwide are actively innovating to facilitate this transition, and India is emerging as a key player in this global effort.

Mr. Arun Mahesh Babu M.S., IAS, underscored Gujarat's ambitious plans during the session, highlighting the state's target to produce 3 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030. He emphasised that the infrastructure being developed is fundamental to achieving this goal, positioning Gujarat as a leader in the green hydrogen sector.

Tobias Winter and Nishaanth Balashanmugam also contributed to the discussion, reflecting on India's remarkable progress in the green hydrogen space. With its vast renewable energy resources and strategic initiatives, India is uniquely positioned to become a global leader in the green hydrogen industry.

This session underscored the importance of international collaboration and innovation as we push the boundaries of what’s possible in the fight against climate change. By working together, we can accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future and make a significant impact on global carbon emissions.
